Honour?? Killing

Recently, this very shocking and horrible news came from Kolkata, India. A 29 Years old man has killed his own sister(22 years old) with a sword and then went to Police Station carrying the sword and the head of his sister to surrender himself.

His reason: - His married sister(who was married at the age of 14) having and affair with someone and thus "Dishonoured" his family.

Such a case is called an "Honour Killing" by the media.

I want to ask what kind of honour has it brought to the family of this boy, should anyone "honour" such a family. How can killing his young and defenseless sister be hounourable?? In my opinion it is purely cowardice on this man's part. It should be called a "Cowardice Murder".

Not only in the above case there are many more examples in India where people have killed young couples, daughters, wives in the name of "Honour killing". Recently a Senior police officer from Saharanpur, Uttarpradesh supporting this "Honour Killing" advised parents of a 14 year old girl who got abducted to kill themselves or kill the girl, this all in front of media. On one side we look forward to see India as a superpower, and on other side, there is still this forest law applicable in the country.

???

yours sincerely

Saurabh
