Is India a free country?
65 years ago we got independence from British, and it was declared to the world that we are a free and independent country. We now had right to make our laws, make a constitution and follow it to our own sweet will.
But are we actually free in the true sense of the word? All of us are used to the instructions like do not stay outside for long, do not believe any stranger, keep a watch on your luggage and even children, and especially no women must ever do the unpardonable act of staying outside alone in the night, be it a village without electricity or be it the capital city of the country.
In this Delhi Gang-rape case, the fault(sarcasm) of girl was that she took a wrong bus, where the driver and other men on the bus picked them from a bus-stand only. This of course, is perhaps the cruelest act ever reported. The girl is still not out of Danger and we all are praying to god for her safety and good health.
Many debates are going on for deciding correct punishment for these offenders. I truly believe following should be the correct action.
1. The punishment must be severest of all, Especially for the offenders in Delhi gang rape case I strongly recommend chopping of both hands and legs, castration and "Rapist" marked on the forehead. This should be shown on media repeatedly.
2. The moral science should be more than a subject being taught in 1st and 2nd Standard, (Even Moral Science was discontinued from the syllabus about 10-12 years ago, has been reintroduced 3-4 years back only) it has to be brought up on more elaborate and higher platform, plus, all parents along with the safety instructions also teach their sons to respect women.
What I want to emphasize is that we can call ourselves free only if our women can walk at any time during the day or night without any fear anywhere in whole country. I once again pray to god to save the victim girl and give her a good health.
Yours sincerely

Honour?? Killing
Recently, this very shocking and horrible news came from Kolkata, India. A 29 Years old man has killed his own sister(22 years old) with a sword and then went to Police Station carrying the sword and the head of his sister to surrender himself.
His reason: - His married sister(who was married at the age of 14) having and affair with someone and thus "Dishonoured" his family.
Such a case is called an "Honour Killing" by the media.
I want to ask what kind of honour has it brought to the family of this boy, should anyone "honour" such a family. How can killing his young and defenseless sister be hounourable?? In my opinion it is purely cowardice on this man's part. It should be called a "Cowardice Murder".
Not only in the above case there are many more examples in India where people have killed young couples, daughters, wives in the name of "Honour killing". Recently a Senior police officer from Saharanpur, Uttarpradesh supporting this "Honour Killing" advised parents of a 14 year old girl who got abducted to kill themselves or kill the girl, this all in front of media. On one side we look forward to see India as a superpower, and on other side, there is still this forest law applicable in the country.

Have a heart.....
Dear all,
In an investigation carried out by NDTV, it was found that, nutrition supplements which are meant for malnourished aanganwadi children in Maharashtra are being sold by the middlemen as animal feed to poultry and dairy farms. These government nutrition supplies were meant for children of economically weaker section.
Pathetic is the word for such people, how can anyone steal children's food. No wonder despite of so many government schemes for food for poor, they are still malnourished and underweight children in India.
This is very disturbing. My heart cries out for these children whose food is being stolen and sold as animal feed. Reportedly Rs.1280 Crore is spent for these aanganwadis in Maharastra alone every year. This kind of money is enough to provide required nutritious food to all the poor children in Maharashtra.
Please give your comments.
Yours sincerely

Gone are the days.....
This morning when I was surfing the net, I visited a YouTube page showing our old Doordarshan logo being formed slowly, and in related videos many clips of old doordarshan time. This made me remember those days, when there were no mobile, laptops, ipods or ipads, and life was more exciting and still calm and relaxing.
On the same subject some one sent me following words in mail, which I would like to share with you. Hope you will enjoy it.-
Take time to read it patiently, feeling each line, its amazing......
When we wanted two Sundays and no Mondays, yet
No matter how busy you are,
Don't forget to live the life that still exists.
It wont be there for ever.'

Gone are the days......
When the school reopened in June,
And we settled in
our new desks and benches.
When we queued up
in book depot,
And got our new
books and notes.
When we wanted two Sundays and no Mondays, yet
Managed to line up
daily for the morning prayers.
We learned writing
with slates and pencils, and
Progressed To
fountain pens and ball pens and then micro tips.
We began drawing with crayons and evolved to
Color pencils and
finally sketch pens.
We started calculating first with tables and
then with
Log tables and
advanced to calculators and computers.
When we chased one another in the corridors in
Intervals, and
returned to the classrooms drenched in sweat.
When we had lunch in classrooms, corridors,
Playgrounds, under the trees and even in cycle shed.
When all the colors in the world,
Decorated the campus on the Second Saturdays.
When a single P.T. period in the week's Time Table,
Was awaited more eagerly than the monsoons.
When cricket was played with writing pads as bats,
And Neckties and socks rolled into balls.
When few played "kabadi" and
"Kho-Kho" in scorching sun,
While others simply played "book cricket" in
the confines of classroom.
Of fights but no conspiracies,
Of Competitions but seldom jealousy.
When we used to watch Live Cricket telecast,
In the opposite house in Intervals and Lunch breaks.
When few rushed at 1:45 to "Conquer" window
seats in our School bus.
While few others had "Big Fun",
"Chock-o-bar","kulfi ice" and "Pepsi"
At 2:00 Clock.
Gone are the days Of Sports Day, and the annual School
Day,
And the one-month
long preparations for them.
Gone are the days
Of the stressful Quarterly,
Half Yearly and
Annual Exams, And the most enjoyed holidays after them.
Of tenth and twelfth standards, when we Spent almost the
whole year
Writing revision tests.
We learnt, we
enjoyed, we played, we won, we lost,
We laughed, we
cried, we fought, we thought.
With so much fun
in them, so many friends,
So much experience, all this and more.
Gone are the days
when we used to talk for hours with our friends.
Now we don't have
time to say a HI.
Gone are the days
when we played games on the road.
Now we code on the
road with laptop.
Gone are the days
when we saw stars shining at night.
Now we see stars
when our code doesn't work.
Gone are the days
when we sat to chat with friends on grounds.
Now we chat in
chat rooms.....
Gone are the days
where we studied just to pass.
Now we study to
save our job
Gone are the days
where we had no money in our pockets
and fun filled on our hearts
Now we have the ATM as well as credit card but with an
empty heart
Gone are the days
where we shouted on the road.
Now we don t shout
even at home
Gone are the days
where we got lectures from all.
Now we give
lectures to all... like the one I'm doing now....
Gone are the days
But not the
memories, which will be
Lingering in our hearts for ever and ever and Ever and
ever and
Ever.....
No matter how busy you are,
Don't forget to live the life that still exists.
It wont be there for ever.'

How to maintain love with parents after marriage? (For Indian Boys)
Dear All,
One of my friends once told me that if you want to increase (or maintain) the love with your parents after your marriage you must live in a separate house, maybe in same city.
My immediate though was "what kind of logic is this". How can our parents love us more, while we cannot be part of their day to day work, they are aged now, and need us more at this point of their life. Our parents have done a lot for us, and it is the time for us to repay.
With time, after facing some situations I could see some logic in my friend’s words. I also remembered an old saying which goes like "Distance makes the heart grow fonder". Actually I realized that staying too close for too long may actually damage the relation, I guess it applies in all relations. Even my dog loved me more when I came back from a long tour. Considering these, I think my friend was right, it do seem that some distance is healthy and we must get separated to preserve the love with our parents.
However I still have some hitches in mind:-
1. How can we take care of our parents when we are away, we may be in the same city but sometimes and emergency gives lesser time than time we may require to reach our parents
2. Isn't there a risk of losing any love which is still left. I think yes
3. To whom will we turn during some common tiffs between husband and wife? Without control they may aggravate to serious situations?
There are no easy answers. Like I do for all my problems, I googled (Searched on Google) "How to maintain love with parents" and found some interesting advices, there was one from Reader's Digest website(http://www.rd.com/family/maintain-a-healthy-relationship-with-your-parents/). They have suggested a) considering your parents as fellow adults, like your friends, b) Keep your sense of humour c) Tell them what bothers you and most interesting d) Don't ask your parents advice unless you really want it.
Okay, we can consider our parents as friends, what if they do not let us do so, and take anything we do with this regards as an insult? What if, our sense of humour is not well taken by them? and What if they expect us to take advice in every small matter (like if you should order samosa or not?..:) etc.) or they keep giving their advice in each matter without asking for it, and feel insulted if we do not take their advice?
I feel after a certain age our parents actually become like little kids, only way more stubborn and difficult to deal with.
So overall the issue remains unsolved.
I wish to know how common are these differences with parents in our country? Are you facing it? What is the best solution to these situations?
Please give your views.
Yours sincerely
Saurabh
